Mesa Verde Project Videos

Mesa Verde National Park, located in southwestern Colorado, is the site of numerous cliff dwellings that were inhabited by the Ancient Puebloans until the late 1200s.

The Park celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2006. In part responding to the heightened interest that celebration evoked, 3DE constructed a full-scale, accurately textured, 3D model of the Mesa Verde cliff dwelling know as Balcony House. A particular reason for choosing the site is that it is only physically accessible to visitors who can climb two large, physically demanding ladders; thus, a full-scale immersive model allows a broader range of people to experience the site.

Future evolution of the model is intended to include a reconstruction of the ruins to their actual condition when in use in 1200, insertion of Native American avatars who will act as site guides, and exposition of the way in which the site was an environmentally sustainable living environment.
